7% of Bulgaria's vineyards is lying in this regions.

The sub-Balkan region cuts across the center of Bulgaria, bordered by the Balkan Mountains to the north and the central highlands, the Sredna Gora, in the south. The region is higher in altitude towards Sofia in the west, whilst the land has a gentler aspect towards Slaviantzi in the east.

Wineries

Slaviantzi

Slaviantzi has a dichotomy in its production. Here, one can discover a diversity of delightful white wines which are the speciality of the Eastern region as well as small collection of quality red wines, more in the style of the south.

The quality of winemaking at Slaviantzi can be noted in the Slaviantzi Barrel Fermented Chardonnay which displays good fruit, balanced oak flavours with a fresh finish.

Vini Sliven

Vini Sliven winery has a large portfolio of both red and white wines made predominantly from the international grape varieties specializing in full bodied wines with subtle oak flavour and a long finish but also included is a unique blend of Merlot and Pinot Noir and the award winning Young Vatted Cabernet Sauvignon, a fruit driven style produced specifically for the UK. The range of wines from Vini Sliven all bear testament to the fact that Vini experiments with different techniques and blends whilst maintaining not only their class but their international appeal.
