Kazanluk town

The town is famous for the cultivation of oleaginous rose and the production of attar of roses, and the very field of Kazanluk is called Valley of Roses. 

The following Bulgarian National revival buildings have been preserved: 56 houses, churches "Sveti Yoan Predtecha", "Ouspenie Presveta Bogoroditsa" (1834, with valuable wood-carved iconostasis), "Prorok Iliya" (with an interesting bell-tower) and "Sveta Troitsa". A historical museum, an art gallery, "Rosarium" park.

At a distance of 7 km from the town one can see "Koprinka" dam. The excavations during its construction come upon the ruins of Sevtopolis town, built by Thracian ruler Sevt III for a capital (the end of 4 c. - the beginning of 3 c. B.C.) of the Odrisi state. The fortress wall, the citadel, ceramic finds, coins with the image of Sevt III, silver and bronze ornaments have been uncovered. At present Sevtopolis is under the water basin.

5 km south-west of Kazanluk there is a balneological resort. The water (45 degrees Centigrade) helps cure neurological, skin and other diseases. 

Kazanlushka sepulchre - found near Sevtopolis. Dated back to 4 c. - the beginning of 3 c. B.C. It comprises an ante room, a passage (dromos) and dome-shaped grave chamber (tholos) built in bricks and stone. Famous for its unique mural paintings. In the passage one can see painted battle scenes while in the chamber the ceremony of the burial feast is recreated and a frieze with three galloping chariots. The monument is included in the List of monuments of world cultural and natural heritage compiled at UNESCO.
