Haskovo

  This is a district town in Haskovo Hilly location, 234 km south-east of Sofia. Population of 81 000.

Traces have been uncovered of settlements dating back to the Neolithic and the Chalcolithic Ages, and also later ones - from the Bronze and the Iron Ages. Remains from 4 Roman settlements and 4 tumulus necropolises.

Since 1912 Haskovo is a center of tobacco industry.

There have been preserved houses of the National Revival, the Church of the Holy Virgin and St. Archangel Michael Church, a mosque (1395) and others.

Mineralni Bani - a village, 18 km west of Haskovo. Balneological resort at an altitude of 280 m. Population of 1700. 12 mineral springs, water temperature of 48,5 degrees Celsius. Conditions for the healing of disorders of the locomotors system, gynecological, traumatic, neurological diseases.
